Breaker Morant - Beresford - 1980

You can judge for yourself how innocent these guys were.

The director later said he wasn't trying to make a film which attacked the manner in which Australian soldiers were treated by England, he said that he wanted to do a film about how the pressures of war could corrupt otherwise decent people and compel them to acts of barbarism.

Black Moon - Louis Malle - 1975

A somewhat experimental film by Malle. While watching it here for the first time I thought, "Well, it's good to experiment, but some experiments work and some fail." You can judge for yourself how successful this experiment was.

I only saw about one-third of this film before I decided to stop watching, but it seems to be about a young woman who is trying to navigate through a civil war based on gender while encountering lots of perplexing situations.

The Return of Martin Guerre - Daniel Vigne - 1982

So Martin Guerre runs away from his village after being accused of stealing grain by his father. Previous to that he had been mocked by the men in the village for impotence (sexual and general all around impotence). Suddenly, years later he comes back from the Hundred Years War and is a man's man. His wife loves it, but his uncle is convinced this person is not Martin Guerre.

So what's what? Take a gander at this amazing film and judge for yourwself.
