There are a zillion great, old films for free on youtube. I wanted to bring them together on one blog for lovers of older films or people who want to learn about film history and see some of the best films ever. When I was younger there was a theater called the Parkway (in Chicago) that showed such films. It was torn down (so it goes). So this blog is kind of my own personal Parkway. djg51qu@gmail.com I will post new films each Saturday.

Toby Dammit by Fellini 1968
This is such a cool short film by Fellini.
Terence Stamp does a yeoman's job of playing a disillusioned actor who is struggling with alcoholism and, apparently, slowly going insane.
I saw this film at an Experimental Film Coalition screening at the Randolph Street Gallery (the devil's playground). From what I remember, Toby Dammit takes a role in a spaghetti western being funded by the Vatican. He clearly doesn't care about acting or the film industry anymore but is having a hard time transitioning to something else. There's a surprise ending to the film. The subtitle that I remember for this film is: Never Bet the Devil Your Head.

8 1/2 by Federico Fellini 1963
It looks as if this film was pulled from youtube due to a 'copyright'
violation. OMG. So the production company still wants to squeeze money
out of a 1963 film? Ridiculous. Let people see these older classics for free.
Some folks care more about making an extra buck than providing meaningful
experiences to others, methinks.
