The Nazi version of The Titanic - 1943

A version of the Titanic made in Germany in 1943...now you will have seen everything...

It is partly an anti-English propaganda film: the Titanic is called "the glory of the English empire" at one point and the reason the Titanic sank in this film hinges on the desire of the owners to set a world speed record which will increase their stock prices. John Jacob Astor becomes a bad guy in the film as he continually tries to take means to undercut White Star's attempts to inflate their stock prices so that he can steal the Titanic from them.

There are some westerns that transcend their genre and should be considered among the best films ever. The Wild Bunch, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence and certainly High Noon are great films.

I've seen this film about 50 times. It's amazing. If you haven't seen it, just watch it. You'll be blown away.

Amazing western directed by Henry King - a neglected Hollywood director who also directed Peck in 12 O'Clock High (an amazing war film).

Here are two film versions of the same Hemingway story. So far I've only see the 1964 version and I thought there was some misogyny in it, but, on second thought, I guess people like the Angie Dickinson character exist and that characterization is not necessarily a general reflection on the 'nature' of women.
